Chinese Consul General in Perth Fu Lihua Visits Australian Bravery Medal Recipient Xi Xiaoyan

On September 19, 2026, Consul General FU Lihua visited and extended her warm regards to Ms.Xiaoyan Xi, recipient of the Australian Bravery Medal.

Consul General FU listened to Ms. Xi’s recounting of her courageous actions and commended her courage in risking her own safety to save others, together with her humility, kindness and compassion, which reflects the admirable qualities of the Chinese people, and has deeply touched the people of Western Australia. Consul General FU expected that Ms. Xi will continue to contribute to promote greater people-to-people understanding between China and Australia. She also extended Mid-Autumn Festival greetings to Ms. Xi and her family.

Ms. Xi expressed her thanks for the care and support from the Consulate General, saying that a strong China is the strongest source of support for oversea Chinese, and will continue to contribute to promoting greater mutual understanding between China and Western Australia.

In May 2020, Ms.Xi Xiaoyan was working at a motel in Port Hedland, Western Australia and encountered a violent stabbing incident. Despite the danger to herself, she courageously helped her endangered colleague to escape and promptly warned and protected other people at the motel.

In 2026, the Australian Government decided to award Ms.Xi Xiaoyan the Australian Bravery Medal in recognition of her courageous actions.
